A sunny Hiswa te Water 2022

Why combustion engines are outdated
For years, diesel was the standard in both leisure and commercial marine. But in recent years several scandals have taught us that its days as the go-to fuel have counted. Many car brands have been found guilty for tampering of emission control systems and successively consumers lost their appetite for diesel powered cars. In the Netherlands and Germany, countries that both traditionally see a large diesel market share, sales have plummeted. New diesel car registrations fell from around 30% to less than 5%.
Why Amsterdam is a perfect example of cities going carbon-neutral
More than 50% of the world population lives in cities, and this number is expected to rise to 68% by 2050. Air pollution is responsible for decreasing the world population’s life span by more than two years. With a European initiative, cities will try to drastically reduce their carbon emissions by 2030. Creating cleaner and healthier cities for its citizens. Electrifying boats will play a part in this.
Our debut electric outboard motor scooped a Red Dot Design Award
When we started developing the Propel S1 electric outboard motor early 2021 we knew that design would play an important role in the success of our young brand. After all, most boat owners spent a fair amount of time to spec their boat and choose the right materials and colours.

Since electric cars and e-bikes are dominating the streets more and more, it is almost a shame that our beloved waterways and canals still seem to lack behind. Even though, there are several reasons why electric propulsion for leisure marine crafts might be the better choice.
